Coach Tapia

Born in Tecate, B.C., Mexico, and raised in Jamul and El Cajon, San Diego, Coach Jose Tapia brings a lifetime of athletic achievement and over 20 years of coaching experience to Oceanside Athletic Club. A multi-talented athlete, Jose was inducted into the San Diego Hall of Champions at just 16 years old for his accomplishments in cross country and track & field. His journey has taken him across the globe, from playing soccer overseas in Germany and Spain to becoming a professional MMA fighter with a 5-0 record and a professional Muay Thai fighter, earning the 2018 Anglo Welsh title and the 2019 K1 Super Champ belt in Thailand.

Jose’s passion for coaching stems from his desire to share his knowledge and create champions. With extensive teaching experience across Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, England, and Mexico, he’s developed fighters in BJJ, boxing, and Muay Thai. His career began at San Diego Fight Club in 2003, where he trained with legends like Charlie Kholer, Frank “The Tank” Wade Ship, and Dave Izquierdo. Jose holds professional cornering licenses for amateur Muay Thai, MMA, and boxing, making him an asset to fighters at any level.

While his championship belts are career highlights, Jose considers his greatest achievement to be marrying his amazing wife and raising their three wonderful boys. Outside of the gym, he loves running, hiking, traveling, and spending time with animals, especially dogs. A lifelong fan of Mexican food (with tacos at the top of the list), Jose also enjoys teaching kids and helping all students push their limits to achieve their goals.

Jose’s vision for Oceanside Athletic Club is to build a competition team that showcases the club as one of the nation’s elite striking schools. He’s also passionate about unifying the BJJ, Muay Thai, and MMA communities, creating a strong and supportive fight culture in Oceanside. With his wealth of experience and connections, Jose is ready to help members grow in confidence, skill, and success—on and off the mats.

Coach Marc

Knock Knock…. Marky Marc in the house!

I’ve been immersed in the sweet science since the age of 6, evolving my passion and expertise over the years. The ring, my sanctuary, sparked a passion that only intensified despite early adversities, including a hand injury that redirected my focus from competition to strategic coaching. Boxing, for me, transcended a sport—it became a tool for managing and improving my mental well-being.

When I’m not coaching you can still catch me in the gym working on my craft along side our students! Outside of the gym I like to enjoy the little things in life like the fresh air on the beach or clocking some miles in the city with my dog, Ace!

At OAC, I am dedicated to leveraging my ever-growing experience and insights in the sport to ignite passion, boost confidence, and elevate overall physical and mental well-being through the empowering knowledge and strength of self-defense.

Coach Bijan

Hey there! I'm Bijan, born and raised right here in sunny SoCal. Before my journey into martial arts, I spent my college days on the basketball court. But at 18, I discovered martial arts and never looked back.

I've competed in MMA, Muay Thai, and Jiu Jitsu, and I've been sharing my knowledge for over a decade. With a NASM personal training certification and a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, I'm all about merging fitness and technique.

When I'm not teaching, you might catch me shredding the slopes on a snowboard or indulging in an entire pizza—I've got an appetite for both adventure and good eats!

Oh, and here's a little fun fact: I used to be a snowboard and ski instructor.

At Oceanside Athletic Club, my mission is clear: to empower everyone with self-defense skills and boost confidence through martial arts. Can't wait to train and learn together!

Coach Abel

I’m Coach Abel! I started boxing in high school and fell in love with the rigor ,discipline and strategy that came from learning the sweet science. I went on to compete at the collegiate boxing level for the University of California, Berkeley, where I also earned a bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies. GO BEARS!

Outside the gym, I work with Feeding San Diego, where I help fight food insecurity in underserved communities across the county. When I’m not working or coaching, I enjoy movies, running, and spending quality time with my wife and our pets.

At Oceanside Athletic Club, my goal is to nurture and develop each individual’s skills and passion for boxing, while instilling the discipline needed to reach their next milestone—whether that’s stepping into the ring or achieving a personal health goal. I strive to lead by example and always welcome anyone to join me for a run before or after class!

Coach Corry

I’m Corry Glucoft, and I coach Rock Steady Boxing here at Oceanside Athletic Club. I got into kickboxing for fun and fitness after moving to California, and a few years back I came across a post from Tabitha looking for Rock Steady volunteers. It immediately felt like the right fit — and it was. Fast forward about three years, and I’m now a certified coach leading classes I truly care about.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, I’ve lived in San Diego County for the past eight years. I’ve been married for 26 years and have a 21-year-old daughter — family means a lot to me, and so does this community.

My goal at OAC is to keep learning and growing so I can show up fully for my group of fighters. They give their best every day, and I’m proud to do the same for them.

Coach Donina

Donina is the heart behind Flip Roll Groove.

With a background in both gymnastics and dance, Donina brings years of experience in movement education to every class. Her goal is to inspire confidence in kids while teaching foundational movement skills in a supportive and energetic environment.

"I believe in helping every child discover what their body can do—through flips, rolls, and a whole lot of fun!"

Tabitha

Hi! 👋

I’m Coach Tabitha, Owner at OAC and coach for Rock Steady Boxing Oceanside!

I first began training in boxing in 2020 when my husband and I opened Oceanside Athletic Club. Chris and I have dreamt of building a club that would serve Oceanside through community, martial arts and fitness. It’s been amazing to see that dream come to life and I am excited to join the fight against Parkinson’s Disease!

I am passionate about helping men and women who would not normally walk into any gym – let alone a boxing gym – transform their bodies and their self-image. I will encourage people of all ages and abilities to feel confident, powerful and strong, no matter where they are at physically at this very moment. It doesn’t matter if you are not able to run, or even walk – boxing can empower you from a seated position to take back control of your health and your life.

A little about me… My life revolves around my family, our gym, and my own health journey. My daughter Amelia, now 5, keeps us on our toes with her boundless energy. I’m committed to my fitness goals through bodybuilding, nutrition, walks, with a little boxing  & Muay Thai mixed in. While free time is limited, I’d love to start traveling and camping more, and I’m working toward that elusive work-life balance. When I’m not working, you’ll often find me at the park with Amelia or relaxing at home. As I carve out more time for myself, I look forward to enjoying some of my favorite hobbies—surfing, painting, camping, reading, and just unwinding.

My goal with RSB is to help improve my fighter’s quality of life. I will plan challenging classes with a focus on boxing and functional movements. Don’t worry, I will meet you at your level with modifications to accommodate your individual needs while pushing you to your limit. I understand that some days will be harder than others, and on those days, I just ask that you show up and do the best you can.

Let’s get to work!🥊🙌
